It’s really satisfying to make and put something on a payload and then watch it leave while you’re thinking,
‘That’s the thing that I did!'

Low Cost & Sustainable
YOU CAN DO LOTS OF REPEATED LAUNCHES
LONG FLIGHT TIME

Why are you using them?
Research weather balloon have 4 components (Top to Bottom)
BALLOON
They look small on ground but can expand to a size of A BUS once its at the stratosphere.
Also, each balloon have a weight limit that it can carry. We're currently using 2000g balloons that has an upper limit of 12 lbs. Better get creative with your payload design! PARACHuTE
Our parachutes are set up to reduce the ground landing impact (which can be up to 30mph in rough conditions).
Navigation EQUIPMENT
We're using three different navigation equipment to track where the balloons are flying and where to recover them after launches:
-Intermet Radiosonde -SPOT Tracker -APRS Research Instrument
This is what you will be building and launching. What it is depends on you. You are the creator/co-creator.
As Mary Lou Cook has once said: "Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun." and that's one of the essential of this project, so let your creativity flow! |
